On MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5), you can display historical data for a specific time frame or all time frames.
There is a difference in the historical data downloaded between MT4 and MT5.
The historical data downloaded with MT4 is price data distributed by MetaQuotes, while for MT5 it is price data provided by FXON.
There are different procedures for MT4 and MT5.
Please see below for the instructions.
1. Menu bar
In MT4 click (1)"Tools" > (2)"History Center" from the menu bar.
In MT5 click (1)"View" > (2)"Symbols" from the menu bar.
2. Choose the symbol and timeframe
In MT4 in the "History Center" window, select the (1)symbol and (2)time frame (M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, MN) from the "Currency Pairs" section, then click (3)"Download".
In MT5 in the "Chart Bars" tab, set the (1)symbol, (2)time frame (21 types available), and (3)period for the historical data, then click (4)"Request".
3. Download complete
In MT4 once the download is complete, the number of downloaded data entries will be displayed at the top of the window, and the historical data will be reflected in the chart below.
In MT5 once the download is complete, the number of downloaded entries will appear below the symbol list, and the historical data will be reflected in the chart.
